Dr. Rajarshi Mitra

Dr Rajarshi Mitra graduated from NSCB Medical College & completed his Post-Graduate training in Surgery from GMC Bhopal, in India. He underwent further training in Laparoscopic Surgery at FORTIS Hospital. He was a Visiting Physician at The MAYO Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA where he had training in Advanced Laparoscopic procedures & Gastrointestinal Surgical Procedures.

Dr Rajarshi has undergone training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the European Institute of Telesurgery [EITS-IRCAD], University of Strasbourg, France, and was awarded the Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery [DLS] by The University of Strasbourg, France.

Dr Rajarshi underwent a 6-month Fellowship in the Departments of Colorectal & Metabolic Surgery at China Medical University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan, where he was trained in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal & Bariatric Surgery. He underwent training in Trans Anal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD), an advanced method for the surgical treatment of Haemorrhoids, under Prof. Carlo Ratto at The Agostino Gemelli University Hospital, Rome.

Dr Rajarshi was awarded the Diploma in Hernia Essentials by The Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS). He is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons [FICS], Chicago, USA, and a Fellow of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons [FIAGES]. He is an International Member of Society of American Gastroenterological & Endoscopic Surgeon, SAGES (USA).

He is a practicing surgeon with more than 19 years of independent practice after his post-graduation. He has previously worked in British Guyana as a Staff Specialist Laparoscopic & General Surgeon for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and as a Specialist Laparoscopic Surgeon at Suva Private Hospital, Suva, Fiji. He was also a Visiting Consultant at The Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Suva, Fiji, where he was a mentor for the postgraduate trainees in General Surgery.

Dr Mitra specializes in Laparoscopic & Open Visceral and Solid Organ Surgery. He has a special interest in the surgical management of Perianal pathology like fistulas, fissures & hemorrhoids and is a trained provider in Transanal Hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD) and Stapler Haemorrhoidectomy [MIPH].
