About

Dr. Albustani has completed his internal medicine residency from the University of British Columbia - Vancouver as well as two Fellowships; Adult Cardiology from the University of Calgary and another in Interventional Cardiology from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeon of Canada in Internal Medicine and Cardiology (FRCPC (C)). He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) which marks his excellence in Interventional Cardiology. He holds the Canadian Specialty Board in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

With over 20 years of experience as a Canadian Board-certified Adult Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Albustani dedicated to advancing the treatment of complex cardiovascular conditions through innovative clinical practices and high-risk interventional procedures. His specialization in coronary interventions, Coronary artery Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) revascularization, multi-vessel PCI disease procedures has consistently led to exceptional patient outcomes. Throughout out his career, Dr Albustani has led the transformation of high-risk cardiac care by integrating innovative clinical pathways and evidence-based treatment strategies. Since the year 2005 Dr Albustani has worked Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) – Abu Dhabi performing over 3,500 PCI procedures, with a particular focus on managing high-risk cases and complex interventions utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and imaging technologies (including coronary Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and Optimal Coherence Tomography (OCT)) to guide interventions.

As a director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory, he has spearheaded the first-ever Cycle IV Chest Pain Accreditation in the middle east, which revolutionized emergency cardiac care protocols, improving response times and patient outcomes across the region. Additionally, he has standardized clinical pathways for invasive and general cardiology, which streamlined operations and minimized procedural delays, leading to enhanced efficiency and patient safety. To add to that, he led the American College of Cardiology National Registry of Cardiac Catheterization (NCDR CathPCI) data collection to ensure accurate benchmarking and compliance with global best practices driving the integration of data-driven clinical decision tools and real-time performance. He has champion the development of clinical protocols and reporting systems in invasive cardiology, enhancing efficiency and clinical quality in the cardiac catheterization lab in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) – Abu Dhabi Dr Albustani has been involved in cardiovascular research, contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications and guiding large-scale studies like the Gulf RACE registry, focusing on cardiovascular risk factors in the Middle East.
